On Wednesday, November 2, Toronto experienced an unprecedented confluence of art, architecture, and Israel. The Canadian Friends of the Israel Museum hosted more than 300 guests at the Art Gallery of Ontario for a dialogue between the Director of the Israel Museum, James Snyder and the Director of the Art Gallery of Ontario, Matthew Teitelbaum; moderated by Gerald Sheff. Following the dialogue guests were invited to a private viewing of Chagall and the Avant-Garde: Masterpieces from the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the show currently on exhibit at the AGO.  Guests were also treated to a live auction and “Colleagues in Collecting”, a book celebrating the life of Marc Chagall featuring the artist’s painting and drawing from the Israel Museum’s extensive holdings.
